“This is the second guitar Jeff made with Myrtle and his first with the Redwood top. That top is from first growth Redwood grown in the Santa Cruz area. That tree was extremely old (2-3 thousand years) and was found on the forest floor. It had been cut about 75 years ago but never removed from the forest.…”

Why this site exists
Mr.Guitars is a private collection housed in a single room — an archive of hand-built instruments from small ateliers across Asia, North America, Europe and beyond. Some come from workshops where a luthier may complete only a few guitars each year. Some already reside here; others are still taking shape on a distant bench.
Each instrument is given its own page: photographs, specifications, and the story of the hands that selected the wood.
Beyond the collection, the Journal takes a wider view — guitar shows worth crossing oceans for, private concerts held in the salon, and notes on new arrivals. Builds follows commissions while they are still becoming: wood being selected, sides bent into form, tops thinned toward voice, and strings finally raised in a workshop half a world away.
An archive kept as carefully as its instruments are made — patiently, one at a time, by hand.
